Apple released iOS 10 this past Tuesday September 13. iOS 10 is packed with many new features. Here are a few of the new and updated features that users can enjoy with Apple iOS 10.
iOS 10 compatibility
iOS10 works with iPad 4th generation, iPad air, iPad pro, iPad mini, iPhone 5 or any generation higher.
iOS 10 home screen
Apple redesigned the iPhone and iPad lock screen. Users now press the home button to open their phone instead of sliding to unlock their phone. What’s also been added is the ability to raise your iPhone to wake it. This fixes the issue of blowing past lockscreen notifications when you hit the fast TouchID home button. Notifications are broken up into bubbles now and use 3D Touch to show hidden menu actions. 3D Touch-enables iOS 10 notifications work even better for messages. You can immediately respond to messages as soon as you pick up your phone, without ever leaving the lock screen. There is also the ability to clear all of your old notifications with 3D Touch. Swiping them away one by one or dismissing them in groups is time-consuming and with iOS 10 users just hard press that little “x” icon within the redesigned notifications pulldown menu and tap the “clear all” box that pops up.
Water detection
iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are water-resistant, but all other iPhones are not.

Talk to Siri normally
You don’t have to talk like a robot to your robot phone. Siri can understand things that can be said in a variety of ways. Users no longer have to deal with siri not comprehending their requests. Siri is more easily adaptable to different voices and is programmed to accommodate different user requests.
Photos with advanced computer vision
iOS 10 automatically pieces together photo albums for you. It creates mini-movies filled with video and photos, complete with titles. There is the added photos app’s ability to create albums based on face recognition, and can do the same for object and scene recognition. Apple plans to take Photos to an even higher level with Memories which are supposed to remind you of events in life by clustering together photos into trips, people and topics.
Apple Maps is way better
With Apple Maps you are free to look ahead to the next turn without springing back into place or free to zoom and explore nearby points of interest. iOS 10 fixes the biggest complaint about Apple Maps with its inability to scroll ahead on a route. You are now free to pan and zoom around the map with the new Apple Maps update. Apple is also incorporating iOS 10 information from other apps into Maps. If it knows you go to work at a certain time, it’ll make a suggestion for the route, or make one based on a calendar event address.

Emojis are three times bigger and it’s easy to replace words with emojis. iOS 10 can now suggest which words in your text you can substitute for a corresponding emoji. Voicemail transcription
You never have to listen to another voicemail again. With iOS 10 there is the launch of voicemail transcription, which translates your audio voicemails into text.
Apple Music
Apple has integrated song lyrics in iOS 10. So you can sing to a song and never have to leave apple music. When listening to a specific song, pull up to reveal the lyrics module. Here you can expand or hide the full lyrics.
